Climate Justice in the Time of COVID Women and Girls Leading | Virtual Skoll World Forum 2020

Description

The reaction around the globe to coronavirus has proven that we are capable of changing behavior to face a serious threat. Can we deploy that urgency to address climate change? Research has proven a transformative link between improving the educational and economic opportunity, human security, and health and wellbeing of women and girls and reversing climate change. All of these issues are critically interconnected. Join women leaders from across the globe—and across generations—to explore these linkages, and discuss how women and girls can lead on climate solutions that are effective and just for all. Speakers: • Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders, Former President of Ireland & Former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights • Katharine Wilkinson, Vice President of Communication & Engagement, Project Drawdown • Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Co-Chair, International Indigenous Peoples Forum on Climate Change • Xiye Bastida, Youth Climate Activist, Fridays for the Future • Megha Agrawal Sood, Director of Programs, Exposure Labs • Hosts: Pat Mitchell & Ronda Carnegie, Founders of Connected Women Leaders Forum Convened in partnership with Connected Women Leaders (CWL) and the Rockefeller Foundation. The mission of CWL is to activate the power of women, working together through connected leadership, to find better solutions to global challenges. CWL is building a transformative global agenda centered on climate justice and its link to gender equity, recognizing that education, human security, economic opportunity, and the health and well being of women and girls are critically interconnected.
